Washington Fire Explorer program:

Explorers will experience a blend of hands-on training and educational sessions. Giving them a glimpse of the life of a firefighter. With full excess to Washington Fire Department equipment, tools, and fire trucks, each training will immerse the cadets in skills, such as ladders, fire hoses, and protective gear. Explorers are also invited to a variety of full Fire Department training and events.  Training are conducted at the Washington Fire Training Center.

Scheduled Trainings

Third Sunday of the month 11am - 1pm

  • Students ages 14-21 in the Washington Fire Department Service area or neighboring district with no Explorer or Junior program.

  • Part of the Scouting America Program

    • $50 annual fee

Local veteran firefighters serve as your primary instructors throughout both FF1 and FF2 training and testing, guiding you with hands-on experience, practical expertise, and proven real-world leadership, mentorship, and situational insight, ensuring you gain the confidence, competence, and skills needed to perform safely and effectively in the field.
