Training Center

The Washington Fire Training Center is a 14 acre site that has grown over time. The primary address is 6340 Maurice Unnerstall Drive. The first building constructed was a 5 story Fire Facilities training tower with two burn rooms and multiple props. As part of that project 200’ of concrete was poured around the tower in addition to a retention pond with sand filtering installed.
The next project was a storage building to support training. This was paid for by the Washington Rural Fire Association to support the training efforts of the men and women of the fire company. The building houses various props and equipment to support training and fire education.
Missouri Natural Gas and Enbridge pipelines donated natural gas props to support fire fighter training of flammable gases.
The most recent addition was a $1.2 million training classroom with apparatus bays. The training classroom is a state of the art classroom for 60 students with computer connections and WIFI with a fiber optic high speed internet connection. The class room has a 21’ white board and includes a small kitchenette, snack area and showers for post training. Presentations can be shown or broadcast from the training center over the internet. The training classroom is built over a basement used for storage and training. The bays house Reserve Engine 8190 as well as the Franklin County Homeland Security Response Team Hazardous Material Team response truck, Communications Vehicle and Support Trailers.
Additional props and training features are planned for the future at the training center to allow fire fighters to remain proficient on fire and rescue techniques.
