Friday Trainings
Locations for all trainings will be located at the Washington Fire Department HQ, Training Facility and/or the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington MO, Stay tuned for final locations.
  • "Engine Support Training" Class will be provided by Engine House Training.
          Time: Friday May 6, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location: Washington Fire Dept. Training Center. 6340 Maurice Unnerstall Drive              Washington MO.
Description: In today's fire service, there never seems to be enough firefighters on the first-due engine to carry out the needed tasks immediately. Whether it's understaffing in the paid department or a lack of volunteers available to staff the apparatus. During this class, we will address the core responsibility of the first-due engine - getting a line to the fire, no matter how many firefighters you have on the rig. You will spend the first part of the day with knowing your flow - what do your lines really flow? How long can you extend them while maintaining adequate flow and acceptable pump discharge pressures? Next we will head to the training ground to review ways to set yourself up for success. Hose loads that are easy to deploy, stretching techniques that minimize the number of firefighters needed to complete, and finally advancing the hose line to the seat of the fire.
Structural Firefighting Turnout Gear Required.
  • "Truck Support Training" Class will be provided by Engine House Training.
          Time: Friday May 6, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Washington Fire Dept. Training Center. 6340 Maurice Unnerstall Drive              Washington MO.
Description: Due to a lack of dedicated Truck Companies, Engine Operations are usually the main focus of the suburban and rural fire service. Just because your department doesn't have a dedicated Truck Company, doesn't mean these vital fire-ground operations don't need to be accomplished at a structure fire. Who performs these operations on your fire scene? You still need to search, vent, force doors, and much more whether you have a dedicated truck company or not-you must get after it! This class will focus on the Truck Company skills every firefighter should be proficient at performing. Multiple hands-on teaching stations will improve your skills and competence at performing "Truck Work" at your next fire.
Structural Firefighting Turnout Gear Required.
  • " The Real Fires and the Fire Service" Lecture will be provided by Past IAFC President and Fire Chief Tom Jenkins
          Time: Friday May 6, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
